Nick Dubeau

Hi, since you are at my website you probably already know my name is Nick. I thought it might be nice to give you some background on the lead photographer at Nick D Photography.

I find wedding photography incredibly rewarding. I get to photograph people in the happiest moments of their lives. I never want to be ‘that guy standing in the corner’ at a wedding. I want you to feel that I am a friend. A friend whose commitment and energy is focused on your day. In short I always want the chance to get to know you as a couple and to reflect you and your friends’ personalities in a creative way.

On your wedding day, I’ll be there with you as a friend and an aide as well as a photographer. While it’s my job to get the best possible photos of you I can, I also aim to support you as a couple: after all the most important thing about your wedding is you! While photography is my priority, I’m always there as a reassuring presence, who has seen all the little last-minute snags and may very well have a solution.

A lot of people ask me if I was always a photographer and the honest answer is no. My love of photography started in high school being the lead photographer and editor for student life. Thinking back to that time still brings back fond memories of processing film in the dark room and the smell of developer. (Not to age myself) Back then photography was not a clear path as a career so I invested 7 years after high school into graphic design followed by becoming a red seal carpenter, restoring water and fire damaged homes.

I have always needed a creative outlet. During those years I invested myself into DJ’ing events and weddings. My outlet shifted to photography 6 years ago and I have been passionate in the artistry and craft of photography since.

If you were to ask me where I was at my happiest, it would be on an adventure somewhere with the people I love. I try to live life to the fullest: I’m frequently up before sunrise while everyone I am with is in bed or out chasing sunsets, stars and northern lights. I love showing others the things I discover while I travel and I’m in my element riding a local minibus with 2 chickens and a goat somewhere in South America.

All in all, I love photography, I love sharing with you all the special moments within a wedding. I love the adventures and challenges it brings, I love getting to know people and capturing their personalities and relationships in the moment. My photography is based around getting to know you and tailoring moments you feel most comfortable in. I am for those who love the in between moments, who prefer mood and emotion over technically correct images, who stray from the traditional and like to get a little weird, and who aren't afraid to run around or hike a mountain side to get a killer shot. I can’t wait to meet you and find out where we’re going today.

Here at my website you can see my vision of wedding photography. If you like it and our tastes match - then I will be happy to share your emotions of Your Day and make tons of beautiful photographs! I sincerely hope I’ll get the opportunity to capture your story!
